Is Saffiano Leather smooth or pebbled? What is so special about this leather? TIA Maria

Saffiano leather is leather that has been textured, looks a little like "scratches". I don't particularly like it. Makes the leather stiff. Can't have a SAFFIANO slouchy, soft hobo, for example. Looks a little cheap and "plasticly" to me.

My thoughts exactly. Saffiano looks like fake, plastic leather. It's very lightweight, I prefer heavy, rich leather.

I too love thick, slouchy leather. So classy looking!

Re: ? about Saffiano leather.

I like it as my work tote, structured and can handle the abuse. It looks professional. Other bags I want a different look and it's not a match. So mixing is my option. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Re: ? about Saffiano leather.

I think that's what happened with my dooney bag. It is a different leather and I often put it in my big tote. I could easily pull it out for evenings when I didn't want the big tote. But, the dooney bag has rubbed off on the edges. Couldn't handle the abuse I guess. {#emotions_dlg.sad} It was the dooney lambskin leather wristlet.

Re: ? about Saffiano leather.

e original saffiano leather from Europe was leather that was waxed to create the saffiano pattern. However, many companies make saffiano using split cow leather coated in polyurethane where the saffiano pattern is rolled or pressed on. Hope this helps

I read somewhere that it is a mixture of leather and man made materials.
