Why Almost Always Goldtone Hardware

D&B workmanship and material is so superior to other more popular names at similar price points and so it is so disappointing to me that almost all the handbag hardware is in goldtone. I just don't like it. Some of the Florentine bags are absolute works of art and products of fine craftsmanship and the coated cotton bags are also fantastic. I wouldn't be able to resist if they just had silver hardware. COME ON, Peter Dooney. I really do believe that you are eliminating so much of a customer base because of your decision to deal almost exclusively with goldtone hardware.

That's just the way Dooney rolls. Apparently, the gold tone hardware is considered to be synonymous with Dooney...

I just got back from Europe where I saw many handbags with silver tone hardware. Made me think of some of you, ladies.....

I've passed on Dooneys because they have the brass hardware. Much prefer silver. Brass looks dated.

Different likes for different people. I won't purchase handbags with silver hardware. I just don't like that look.

I prefer goldtone, always have.

Many of the Brighton bags have silvertone and of very high quality.

Re: Why Almost Always Goldtone Hardware

I like both silver and gold tone. If I otherwise love a bag, the hardware color is rarely a deal breaker for me... and I almost never go out looking for a bag with one or the other to the exclusion of all else. Personally, I don't think the overall Dooney 'look' lends itself to silver tone, though some of the sleeker, less touted lines might work with silver. Truth is, there are so many options and brands that if one wants silver tone, it isn't hard to find, just not in Dooney.

Re: Why Almost Always Goldtone Hardware

I appreciate a well made handbag, but, since I wear SILVER jewelry exclusively, find Dooneys are never a consideration. I also don't like the child size handles that look like briefcase handles ..... and the dangling shoulder straps are also an invitation to a purse snatcher to grab your bag by that dangling strap and RUN. {#emotions_dlg.scared}

A women's self defense class given by the police in our city said to never carry a handbag on your arm with a strap or scarf dangling from it .... you're a mugging victim. Verbum sat sapienti. (A word to the wise is sufficient).

Love the goldtone. I won't purchase a handbag with silvertone. Cheapens the look imo.
