Re: The Trade-In Program Question

But no matter how much you spend you always pay $7.50 shipping. That's was I was told on all the trade ins I've done in the past.

True, but if you buy a less expensive handbag than the one you traded you will lose the value of your trade in. The new bag will cost half it's retail value and you will only get the difference in a credit. The rest of your trade in value is not usable for a later purchase... it's one trade in for one new bag.

Re: The Trade-In Program Question

I've never heard of this trade-in program and haven't seen it listed on their site. How do you go about a trade-in? Thanks

I just spent $13.00 to ship my purse to Dooney for a trade in and they said I had 199.00 credit for at least a 398.00 handbag. So that would cost me another 200.00 plus shipping and tax to trade it in. You can not use it in a store so I have to use their site and there was nothing I wanted or that was in stock. So they said if I did not use it in 30 days they would return my handbag so that is what I will do and just give away the purse. I can go to a dooney outlet near me and buy most any purse there for less than 200.00 and they have more selection.

Thanks for this, the trade in policy isnt as rosy as it seems at first glance. It might work for ladies who just want a new Dooney and aren't very particular. I'd rather keep all my Dooneys and watch for for sales. Giving up a perfectly good $400 bag for a $200 discount on a $400 bag....that I must decide on immediately.....doesn't seem like much of a deal to me. I'm better off taking advantage of the 25% off discount.

At least there is an option for those who want it. Human nature - complain about everything instead of appreciating what you get....

Where do we find the D&B trade-in program? Sounds interesting! Thanks!

Did they let you combine the discount and apply it to one bag?

No they do not let you combine. But you can also trade in key chains and accessories. But its one item for one item

Re: The Trade-In Program Question

I am fortunate to have a Dooney outlet about 1/2 hour drive from my home. Even though I shop there often, I still use the trade-in program at least once a year. It's a great deal and certainly something that Dooney doesn't have to do. Usually I will send in two items. This year it happened to be a bag and a wallet. Now, I have a great new bag and a wallet that I am gifting for Christmas.

As a Dooney collector since the mid-eighties, I think the trade-in program is terrific.
