Smell from newly arrived D&B handbag?

I just received my first handbag from Dooney.com. It is a beautiful Ostrich, however the chemical smell is nearly overpowering. I have let it "air out" for several days, but it still has that odor. Anyone else experience this, and any solutions other than a return? Really love the bag.
