Re: Slip on winter boots

[ Edited ]

In the winter I wear Bearpaw 'Elle' boots. They are not orthotic boots but they keep my feet very warm while I'm shovelling snow plus they have good traction on the outsoles which I need. I don't need an orthotic boot b/c I don't wear them to walk in all day but they do have nice support for what I need. They come in wide widths also.  No zippers. Completely and permanently water resistant with no need to treat them ever. My favorite boots for winter.

ETA-

These have real wool lining them and the insole is genuine sheepskin fur.

I have a pair of easy spirit booties coming from Macys soon---they are not slip ins but do have a side zip, I have issues with the flat bottoms of so many boots--I need a little lift in my step. Not sure about support from that brand, but the $$ was very appealing.

Could you check sporting stores or other types like this?

Got to have good traction and waterproofing.  The debate of socks vs more insulation is more a personal call.

I deal more with wet than snow here and I finally bit the bullet and sprang for pair of Hunter boots.  Best thing I ever did.

@wagirl  I have 2 pair of Easy Spirit boots with the side zipper and LOVE them!  Very comfortable, easy on/easy off.  Hope you like yours!

Boots with no side zipper are a no go for me.  I want easy on and easy off, do not have time to mess around pulling boots off and on.

I love Bearpaws boots.  I just bought a pair of the Shorty which is an ankle bootie - they slip on very easily.  Bear Paws are like Uggs - suede with wool lining - very warm.  And comfy. Half to a third of the price of Uggs.

I wear the Emu version of  the Bear Paws that @SilleeMee wears.  Very easy to put on and I wear socks with mine because I wear socks all the time.

@Jk9

Are your Emu boots water-resistant? What kind of outsole do they have?...good tread for snow?

@SilleeMee Yes, they are water resistant and have a treaded outsole like the Bear Paws .  I've worn in snow and stayed warm.    Shop HQ sold them several years ago and I bought their slippers too.  These were made in Australia and are an Ugg alternative.  QVC may have them now.
