What do you all think of slingback shoes?

They have been trending the last year or so. I like the look, especially in warm weather, but I can't wear them. No matter how tightly I adjust the buckle, my heel will slip off the back end of the shoe while walking. Don't want to sprain my ankle or worse. Some slingbacks have elastic instead of a real buckle. I would think that would be a problem after the elastic stretches and becomes looser over time.

I'm going to get rid of the one pair I own. It's a fairly high wedge sandal slingback. Tried them on yesterday, and I didn't feel secure in the shoe. I have tried on a few low heel slingbacks in stores, and my heel slipped in those too. It's a bummer, because I do like the style, and I love buying a new pair of shoes. šŸ˜‰

Enjoy shoe shopping!

I love them - always have.  I only had a problem with the backs not staying on one time -  the strap was not adjustable.

I like slingbacks and wore them often when I was younger and working.  Now I can't wear them because my foot constantly slides off and I'm afraid of twisting my ankle.  Plus being retired my lifestyle is more casual I and wouldn't get much wear out of them.

@wilma  I used to wear slingback shoes all the time but quit purchasing them because the backs kept slipping off my heels, even bought the adhesive tabs to hold them in place but after awhile they quit workingšŸ˜’.

I won't wear them anymore.  Years ago I had on a pair of slingbacks (low wedge) and I was going down the subway stairs.  My foot went sideways out of the shoe and I fell a few stairs.  I never forgot.

I had 3 pair of sling backs with different heel heights in my 20's; loved those shoes and wore them out, but got away from buying "dressy" type shoes.  No desire to buy them now.

Have always loved slingbacks, whether they are in or out. I love the fit and look of them.

Not anything I would have a need for now, but wore back in the day. What goes around, comes around.
