I am used to ordering shoes from Zappos with free shipping and free returns. I ordered two pair of Aetrex shoes from Shoes dot com last week. It was free shipping, but both pair were 1/2 size too big. I've worn size 8 in Aetrex before, but the arch support hit my foot in the wrong place in these shoes.
I knew I would have to pay $6.95 to return them, but when I starting filling out the online form about returns they charged me $6.95 per pair. I called them, and CS said there was a $6.95 restocking fee per pair. It made me fill each return form out separately and gave me two separate UPS labels. The CS person told me I could return them in the same box, so I am doing that. I hope they get credited correctly. I sent a note explaining what I was doing.
I don't like that they charged me $6.95 per pair and won't order from them again. I felt like it was safe since I had worn this brand before. I knew I would have a return shipping fee but not a restocking fee for each pair.
I have needed a 7 1/2 in several pairs of shoes I've ordered recently when I've always worn an 8. I'm wondering if my feet are shrinking! I guess I will need to start going to Dillard's and trying on shoes and buying them locally. They don't have a very good selection of comfort shoes, which is what I need for my flat feet.

I think I would've just added a "comfort insole" from the Dollar Store, or used a removable insole from an old pair of shoes to take up that extra half size instead of paying $14. bucks to have NO new shoes.
Yikes! That's a terribly expensive lesson.

They don't charge you for return shipping IF you exchange for either a different size or shoe. You're charged a return shipping if you ask for a refund.

@Scooby Doo Yes, I realized that. I was afraid a 7 1/2 might not work either though.

@x Hedge They were sandals, and I think an insole would probably be noticeable. Yes, it was an unbelievably expensive lesson.

No, no extra 'wiggle room' allowed when it comes to fitting sandals @NickNack.

@NickNack. I don't know if you'd want to go this route but I've gotten a ton of "comfort" shoes from Zulily, including Aertrex. Most of their merchandise is now returnable but I haven't read the conditions. My current favorite is this shoe by Klogs. I've gotten some great shoes from Nurse Mates to name a couple of many brands. I have bad pronation on my right foot, flat feet, and I wear a size 11. I don't find shoes on Zulily every day, just occasionally.
