Thank you for all the responses and views on this experience.  I think I will give CS a call in the unlikely event someone in charge isn't familiar with this practice.  This was a first for me.

@faeriemoon,

Q can do much better than that! Call CS and let them know...

I received a pair of L'artist boots yesterday from here and they were in a box but not a shoe box and put in a plastic bag.  The box was a mess but thank goodness the boots were ok.  I never received a pair of shoes or boots like that.

Wow @faeriemoon that's really bad. I've had things rolled up and stuffed into a bag (obviously a return) but never had shoes w/o a box except for the packing box.

@faeriemoon All the more reason to buy locally.  You get a box, usually customer service, no charge to ship or return. And no BS.  And sometimes, prices are less expensive. Shopping via TV leaves something to be desired.

Re: Seriously, Q?

  Maybe they had been on air as a display - maybe the Hosts or models had been modeling them ?

Calling CS - they will tell you to send them back and reorder. To that Good lick if the shoes are still in your size and color

Update:  I spoke with a very nice CS person yesterday afternoon.  Told her the whole story I stated here.  She felt the same as all of us in that there is certainly a lack of quality control, and agreed that is no way to ship a pair of shoes.  I know some of you don't care about the box, but my issue was (and is) that the shoes are subject to less abuse wrapped up in a shoe box than rattling around in a carton.

Not to make this story endless, she is going to pass on the information to the higher ups (who won't care).  No compensation was offered, nor did I ask for any considering the shoes appeared to be fine.

Thank you for taking the time to post here with your thoughts.  I appreciate all your opinions.

I have recently ordered shoes from DSW and received no shoebox lid.  The shoes were mailed in a white plastic mailer with only the bottom of the box.  (Received partially mashed).

I had to return them to the store and asked why the new shoes had no box lid.  She said people just throw the boxes away.

Told her I keep shoeboxes to store shoes in my closet.

I won't be ordering from them again.

Shopped at Nordstrom Rack and the shoes on their rack have no box lids either.  I asked an employee if I bought the shoes, would I get the matching lid?  She said they throw the box lids away.
