I bought some Kiwi saddle soap on the bay for $4.99 because I had seen some youtube video where a lady highly recommended it for her vintage coach purses but while researching the product itself, I ran across some reviews strongly recommending you DO NOT use saddle soap on fine leathers because it will dry them out, since the product is alkaline. One person did say that it was ok, as long as you followed it with some sort of oil or other lubricant to keep the leather supple and keep it from drying out, warping and/cracking. Any thoughts?

Coach makes it's own brand of cleaner and conditioner. That's probably all I would use on such an expensive item. Or, you could call Coach customer service and ask but they would probably say not to use it?

I've often used saddle soap on fine leather if it needed cleaning, always to be followed by mink oil or other leather conditioner.
