I have a pretty pair of red shoes that got scuffed on the toe. I love red shoes, but these are not real leather, although they look it. Semi-dressy, but can be casual as they just have a small pump heel (not 5 inch spike heels).
There are so many hues of red, does anyone know how one could cover up a scuff? It is about the size of a nickel. It is noticeable because I tripped on a step and in trying not to fall the top of the shoe dragged on the stair.
Any ideas? I was thinking of a red magic marker, but am not sure if it would just make it look worse if it is not the exact red,
Dab of food cloring on a q-Tip?
Just looking for ideas.

Did it tear the "leather" and peel it away from the foundation? If so, it might be a wasted cause. If these are inexpensive shoes, I would not invest a great deal of time and money trying to make them look better when they might look worse. My advice would be to seek the advice of a cobbler. They probably have shoe dyes for various colors of red. If they can match it, you would be better off, but if you try the food color, markers, etc., you are probably going to make bad matters worse. It will not hurt to try if the cobbler has no advice, however You could make it worse but you have nothing to lose and everything to gain if it works.

I am a big fan of sharpie pens to touch up almost anything. Take your shoe to WM or Target and see if you can find a red shade to match. I bought a big pig of sharpies that had a dozen colors and I think I have used almost all of them for touching up or repairing something.. I used a dark blue one to cover a bleach spot on a pair of navy twill pants....perfect. I don’t think food coloring would work because it is water soluble. Good luck

Maybe nail polish would work.

I would ask at a shoe repair shop...good luck!

BINGO!
I have a pair of red leather heels that were sitting because of scuffs on heels and toes. I tried the shoe repair guy for a dye and struck out.
I found a perfect match with an OPI nail polish! Dried down beautifully. Not to mention shoes and pedi matched.

If it's just a MARK....not a tear or deep scrape, you can try a Magic Eraser™.
I scuffed the heels on some pastel pumps on my office chair, and the "eraser" worked.

You can choose a crayon in that color, and warm it up with a hairdryer and color over the scuff.
