Re: QVC and others, customer service

I think Vera Bradley has great service both in the stores and online. Everything comes well packaged (beautiful printed shopping bags from the stores and sturdy shipping boxes). They are always sending me online deals and the store calls me with special promos. Can't ask for more than that !!

Re: QVC and others, customer service

EEL: I placed my first order with ILD earlier this month. It took a while for it to ship, although it was less than a week, it seemed like forever. The problem I encountered was with FedEx Smart Post. They projected a 10 day delivery from the West Coast to the East Coast. But the schedule kept getting updated and getting longer. It seems that Smart Post is shipped to certain FedEx depots even if that means it's not the direct route. to me it seemed like they didn't look at the map but randomly chose cities. This adds days to the delivery time. I eventually got the package, earlier than the projected extended date. Not sure it's ILDs fault, except that they chose FedEx Smart Post for their free shipping carrier.

Sorry about your Tessuta. I missed the great sale on those and now I wish I had ordered. But I know there will be other sales soon.... if not on the Tessuta, then on something else.

It would be nice to have both -- great prices and great customer service -- but where? Overall, QVC is wonderful with customer service. And you get the EZ pays vs. big markdowns, as well as the occasional slightly-marked-down clearance price. I do think Dooney needs to work on its technology and inventory control, big time. I guess I've been lucky because I have had good experiences when I call Dooney, but I do wait extra time (a few days) before I call to check to see if a return is in process. For this year's 12 Days, I did receive an e-mail from Dooney that one of the wallets I ordered was sold out and my order had been canceled (of course this meant one of my two Tessuta Woven Shoppers was going back because I wanted the wallet to match). To compensate, Dooney offered me 10% off my entire next order with expedited shipping to arrive before Christmas. So I made another order. Not too bad on my end, but I've never ordered from ILD -- only Dooney.com.

Happy Holidays to you, LJ!! Smile

Hey EEL... I guess maybe I'm just (as I've been so accused) on my high horse, because even before the latest little imbroglio involving DB, I'd decided I wouldn't deal further with either them directly or with ILD and it was because of the awful order fulfillment and CS operations they offer... Likewise, I'd also decided I'll no longer deal (other than in store) with what used to be a very nice retailer (initials LT) for the same reasons... I don't know, but as a customer, I think we should expect and receive better... The last two orders for bags I placed with LT were cancelled by them because the items weren't available, yet they continued to show both items on their pitiful excuse for a website for weeks, and I suspect one of them came back into stock but I was never alerted. Moreover, an item I had bought from them went on a deep discount within days of my receipt of the item and they refused to honor the price. The best they could come up with was a code for 10% off my next purchase, which I never used and probably never will... Yes, there are some advantages to shopping with QVC, but I'd also note that HSN also offers reasonably good CS, along with EP and real clearance prices... Unfortunately, they don't offer any nicer handbags I typically find of interest! QVC is reliable, usually, but they really could do better, even if just occasionally, with pricing and shipping...

Re: QVC and others, customer service

There should be both fair pricing and great customer service, especially when a company markets themselves as offering one or both. QVC has stellar customer service! I have never had an issue where they have not gone above and beyond to resolve it. The representatives have always been nice, professional, and helpful. Their weakest link IMO is the high shipping rates which often causes the item to not be the best value. Many of their competitors also have great customer service while offering the same or similar item at a better value. Needless to say my pocketbook is always looking for the best value but I want great service as well. There is definitely a need for both. I have had horrific experiences with two companies, one is no longer in business and the other seems to be struggling and I am cautious and limit any purchases with them.
