Re: Pebble leather Zip Zip Satchel...

Well I checked the measurements and they are similar to the original Dillen satchel...a little longer but a half inch narrower and a half inch shorter. The new zip zip satchel is also similar in size to the recent TSV... it's a little longer, the same depth, but a half in shorter. Size looks perfect to me. The Dillen satchel was one of my favorite handbags. The Florentine domed buckle satchel is much larger.

stevieb: after seeing all the larger Florentine styles for a few years, I guess this new satchel was visually smaller. Certainly it's not as large as the Florentine domed satchel. And although the measurements say it is 6" deep, it didn't look that deep to me. I didn't measure it, and I didn't study it for long, but I did pick it up. I think it will be a perfect size handbag for those of us who like a good sized bag, but not an oversized bag. I guess we should compare it to the measurements on the Dillen satchel and the last TSV.

I agree. Although I haven't seen it, judging from the pictures, the depth listed doesn't look accurate. I do love the large dome satchel, the new bone is beautiful in that silhouette, but truth be told I might be about to add the last TSV in a third color (if it comes up in as-is) because I'm just loving that little bag! Go figure... I've got a lot of larger bags and while I might add that bone dome at some point (or the Clayton in bone) right now I'm enjoying the less sizable silhouettes, something I never though would happen... I also saw some gorgeous new RL satchels at the mall today.. I swear, it'll never end!

Thanks lavenderjunkie for the review! When you saw this bag at the boutique did any of the colors particularly catch your eye?

Re: Pebble leather Zip Zip Satchel...

LitGeek: they had a few colors, but not all of them. I'm usually a bright color lover, but for some reason it was the darker colors neutrals that appealed to me more. The dark colors, like black and navy (marine) and dark brown look especially good with the medium color trim. I also like the very light colors like bone and white with that trim. The bright colors, like the Aegean blue (which I thought was my favorite) or the pink didn't call out 'buy me'. I was surprised. I can't remember exactly what colors they had, but I do remember my reaction. Of course, when the weather turns warmer, I might feel differently. I guess my eyes have to get used to the bright colors again after being surrounded by winter colors.

Thanks LJ! I had my heart set on the marine, but then the cobalt just grabbed my attention. I know what you mean about having to adjust to the brighter colors for spring and summer. Overall I tend to gravitate toward warm and neutral colors.

Yes, it's a beautiful bag, but sadly, at a whole different price point. I have the Alto Zip Zip on my long term list!

I fell in love w/ Dooney's Alto line 6 years ago, it's impeccably made w/ gorgeous, sumptuous leather. My Alto baguette is simply too small for me (I'm planning to give it to my daughter).

If ILD had that Zip Zip, for that price in the Tmoro, I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat! {#emotions_dlg.w00t} I don't wear red (it's the Irish in me) so I just steer clear of that color (along w/ accessories) altogether.
