They're kind of pricey, but I love Mephisto "Helen" sandals. You get what you pay for & I still have & wear my 1st pair of Helens that I bought in 2005 when I lived in WA. I now live in the desert SW & I wear sandals probably 9 months out of the year.

I don't recommend open-toed sandals in Europe.

I agree with @grandme about SAS. I wore these to Disney World when I was 7 months pregnant. I took two pairs, and that's all I wore. I thought I would not be able to be on my feet the whole day long, but I was - from early morning until late at night. My feet and my legs were fine!
I also like Birkenstocks (I've been hiking in these) and Clarks. But for serious walking and comfort, I would turn to SAS (stands for San Antonio Shoes and made there!). ![]()
