Mixing croco handbags with patterns

As I was pulling together my outfit, I began experimenting with different Dooney handbags to go with black/white small houndstooth checked slacks and a black sweater. My first thought was a red Dooney croco.... either the deeper red satchel or a lighter red Amazon. Then I thought about my mustard Amazon croco. But none of these seemed right. The croco seemed too busy with the pattern of the slacks. A black croco would probably have worked well, but I wanted a little color (and my black croco is buried in the closet). {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

In the end I chose a deep burgundy red Dillen II satchel. I know this will work.

But what do you ladies think.... is the croco too busy to wear with the small check pattern slacks?
