So ironic that I was posting on this thread last night, because just today I received my 3rd returned bag in 3 months. So that's 1 D&B, one B.Mak, and now an Oryany. It's missing it's wrapping, tags and dust cover. I was on WL for it. And the bottom is dirty. And it was not an 'as is' purchase, it was sold as a new $300 bag. So disappointing.

It's one thing for people to abuse the return policy, which I guess is between them and QVC, but it's another thing altogether for QVC to continuously send out used items as new, which is really uncool.

It really is uncool and they need to be up-front and make a clear distinction between sending out a return as new and sending it over to the as-is bin. As far as I'm concerned, returns sent out as new need to be new, as in pristine, complete, intact and flawless and if they aren't they should only be sold as-is. It sounds as though QVC is cutting corners in this area.

I agree 100%, Stevieb. I will buy 'as is' and bags from Ebay, etc., but always with the knowledge of it, and the savings. When we are paying hundreds of dollars for a new bag, it needs to be a NEW bag.

If I receive a bag and I'm not sure it's for me, I don't take the tags or wrapping off (other than to take it out of the plastic bag it comes in). I can tell right away if it's not going to work, and I return it unused. The only scenario I could imagine returning a bag I've used would be if something broke in the first 30 days, for example, the logo lock bags.

Krissie, I'm sooo sorry that you've had so much bad luck lately with the Q. {#emotions_dlg.mad} I know how excited most of us feel when we buy something special and we wait eagerly for its arrival.

I certainly hope that you called cs and returned these used bags on their dime.

This thread brings to mind this Dooney bag which was a TSV last fall:

Dooney & Bourke Snake Embossed Leather Hobo w/Accessories

I'm amazed that Dooney and qvc are actually still selling this, for $239 no less.

I ordered and received my set and loved its look out of the box. It was my first splurge, my first Dooney. Instead of using it immediately I hung it in my bedroom and admired it.

Then something caused me to go back and read the reviews. This attempt at a snakeskin look FAILED MISERABLY!!! Many reviewers complained at how the "scales" rubbed off after only a few uses, revealing some sort of suede underneath. I packed up my purse carefully and sent it back on my own dime.

I can't imagine that this purse held up well for anyone. I think any 5 stars were given when new and not yet used. I'm sure many used purses were returned. Not sure if qvc tried to send any of them out to new buyers.

Frankly, given the reviews, I fail to understand why people continue to buy this purse. They've restocked all the colors several times. Guess some buyers don't read reviews.

Dooney used this snakeskin effect on other purses and the scales rubbed off on them also.

They should have been reputable enough to admit a new technique failed and to stop selling any more stock. I've lost a great deal of respect for both dooney and the q. Can anyone spell INTEGRITY!!!! {#emotions_dlg.angry}

Now I am curious. Did the embossing peel on YOUR bag?

I have purchased several "as is" Dooney & Bourke bags in the past and have been very pleased with the quality. In the past month, I have returned two "as is" D&B bags to QVC, because they were much more than "as is". One had red marks going up the entire side of the bag (it's called damaged) and the other one had clearly been very used. The one with the red marks still had the original plastic over the handles, dust cover, tags, etc. I think that the tassle dye came off on the light color leather. The other bag, which was navy, was a smudged, scratched mess. Nothing came with this bag. I would never have purchased it even if it was 75% off....I think for now, I am not purchasing any more "as is" bags from QVC{#emotions_dlg.thumbdown}. I think that they are just recycling damaged stock.

It never got the chance. I had unwrapped it because I was planning on keeping it. However, I had not yet used. All the complaints from reviewers scared me off. And I'm not talking about just a handful of reviews. There were many upon many. And by looking at how the embossing was done to simulate "snake scales" it's very clear what happened.

Dooney made this bag strictly for qvc. It wasn't marketed elsewhere. It was a brand new process and I think dooney missed the mark more often than they hit it. Buyers in general were disappointed because, like me, their first impression was to like the bag. I had it in black and thought it was very attractive.

I finally replaced it by buying a gray & black ostrich leather from Dillard's and now I'm thrilled. Smile

it is nice to have a generous return policy, but when people abuse this it can drive prices of new items up,which is not fair to the people who DO NOT abuse the return policy.Brick & mortar stores would not let a customer return an OBVIOUSLY used/abused item, if this is done on the Q THERE SHOULD BE A REDUCTION IN THE REFUND TO THE CUSTOMER. This item should not be sold AS-IS in the attempt of QVC to recoup money lost from returns.

Actually, some B/M stores will take virtually anything back. The difference is they then don't try to resell it, especially as new.

Fortunately, there is a QVC outlet where I live. D&B bags can be purchased at a fraction of what they sell for on-line or through tv. No ez pays, but the prices are so low it's not necessary.
