Maintenance tips?

After lurking on this topic, I finally took the jump into Dooney with the croco tassle tote in cognac. (retiring my LL bean tote..) {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes} Anyway, love it, but it is an investment for me big time, and I read one of the posts about 'lasting forever' if you take care of it.

Could I request a few maintenance tips from those of you that have the croco. I assume the finish might be a little different? This will be an everyday bag for me, used as a real tote, so I want to keep it looking as nice as possible. One of the reasons I got this finish is it seemed like the minor rain shower etc would not be as critical as, for example, something in glove leather?
