I don't care for it either but I'm not going to stop wearing them. I don't care what other people can see or what they think.

Regardless of others, I don't even want to see that yucky footbed! I hear you though!

I agree with you and something else I can't stand is a dark shoe with white contrast stitcing.  I think it makes a shoe look cheap.  Not a good look.

I can think of a few (very few) times I've actually liked contrast stitching, but generally speaking, I agree. Most of the time it turns a nice shoe in to something more casual looking.

I also agree..but I also wish they would not put a white sole on all the other slip-on shoes like sketchers or Ryka when the upper of the shoe is a dark color; it instantly makes it a "sneaker" and limits where I can wear it.

You have hit upon two of my pet peeves when buying shoes.  Love all the Skechers slip on's, but not with white soles--just can't wear them to work because they look sneaker-ish.  Have to have a black or matching color sole.  And my Birki's--absolutely love them, but am slightly ashamed to wear them when the footbed becomes discolored. I feel like I have dirty feet.  Wish they made a dark brown footbed, too.

You hit the nail on the head for how it makes me feel as well. It makes me feel dirty even though I know I'm not!

Re: Light-colored Footbeds on Sandals

Yikes - me too! My feet perspire quite a bit - that Clark's guy Steve used to say it can be something like up to a cup of water per day for some people - ugh! Anyway, I hate how the footbed looks to from my feet.

I do like - actually need - a sueded footbed that is absorbent.

Two things I try to do - one is never wear the same shoes two days in a row - they need time to air out.

The other is I love to use Shoe Pourri - from the makers of Pou Pourri - I got it on Amazon. It has cedar oil in it and it has really helped, and I've used a ton of foot sprays.

Oops, also drinking apple cider vinegar 2 tablespoons each day in a big glass of water has really helped with odor. Just sayin'.

Hope that helps any who have the same problem!

Re: Light-colored Footbeds on Sandals

Light colored footbeds don't bother me. Not on sandals or other shoes. An imprint of my foot on the footbed is not something that bothers me. It is normal. I can recall dark colored footbeds that stained my feet. That bothered me more.

White soles are OK on my gym shoes - if they blend in - but white is my least favorite color. It does tend to look dirty. And most of the time a different color would look better.

I've got 2 pairs of Skechers - black gowalk2s with black soles & light gray sneaker mules with white soles. The soles really look fine & have not needed cleaning.

White soles can look too casual & black ones can sometimes look too much like men's work shoes. It really depends on the shoe.
