Leather Dry Cleaner ? Damaged Bag

I live in a small rural area and we don't have a high end leather cleaner that does handbags. I did call a dry cleaner in a nearby town who said they have a speciallist come in once a week and pick up leather for cleaning. He said they do a great job, but that they had 'sprayed a customers bag again for her as she was unhappy with the color, and it looks new again' SPRAYED IT? I didn't ask but what the H.... did that mean? Why spray a leather bag with what?

I have a natural leather backpack like the one from DandB but it Boulder Ridge brand..used it as a small purse when I needed my hands free. It accidentally got put into a charity bag and placed in our garage. Well, it rained a lot and the floor seeped water and the bag got wet. While cleaning it out, I found myleather bag..and it smells moldy/mildewy and has some stains on the liner. The leather actually looks fine. I turned the fabric outside the bag and scrubbed it and sparyed lysol on it. It still has spots and smells.

Question is, do I send it to the cleaner above? I don't know what he will do..and I don't want it sprayed......I want it cleaned of the moldy smell. Not many options here...no one else handles leather. If not, I could use it, but I don't want to risk getting sick from the mold, or better yet, I could just throw it out. Too bad, it is a nice bag. Any suggestions other than the leather dry cleaner?
