Keeping VB Handles Clean---Suggestions?

I have recently backed off some of the VB prints that I really like, because it's nearly impossible to keep handles with lots of white on them clean. No matter how careful I am to not pick them up or carry them in the "white section", they do eventually get a little dirty looking. Anyone tried spraying them with a protectant? I really want to figure this out, so any thoughts would be appreciated. Also, for any of you who have laundered your bags, do they come out looking the same, or do they lose some of their "body"? Thank you in advance!
