Joanna Gaines and Birkenstocks

[ Edited ]

Apparently "The Internet" is now obsessed with Joanna Gaines' shoes - taupe Arizonas. They are becoming one of the most searched for items!

First, I obviously know who she is, although I've never seen her show. Second, a lot of us have known about Birkenstock for a long time.

So if you're a Birkenstock lover like me (my first pair in my 20's was a pair of men's Arizonas!) sit back, relax, and watch the frenzy! LOL! Smiley Wink

Re: Joanna Gaines and Birkenstocks

Had one pair and got such a blister. It's rare I return anything to QVC, but those things didn't work for me.

@beach-mom   Yes, I'm another Birk fan.  I don't have to worry about competition because I already have a closet full of them!   My fav is the Gizeh style because there's nothing to rub on my bunions and the toe bar helps to keep my big toe away from the other guys!  I also have found an excellent knock off on Zulilly.  They are called Calceo, and run around $30.  I actually like them better than my Birks, but only in the thong style......not the clogs.  These are my go-to house shoes all year, and my summer everywhere shoes!

Re: Joanna Gaines and Birkenstocks

Another with a closet full of Birkenstock's . . . may are the Arizona style. Have been wearing them since 1968 when my then fiance' (later husband) purchased my first pair in Germany during my vacation. He was on R&R from his military base for one month and we toured East and West Germany (yes, they were divided at the time). Then drove to Spain. It was a great time in Europe and I become a life-long Birki wearer!  Joanna Gaines is probably making money by wearing Birkenstocks.

Classic suede taupe (and black) Arizona Birkenstocks are about all I wear eight months of the year.  And have been for years.

So now people are obsessed with them.  Glad I didn’t need any new ones this year then.

@2blonde, do the Calceo's fit the same as Birkenstocks?  Do you wear the same size in both?

Maybe the Q will bring them back!

I love Birkenstocks too.  The Arizona was my first pair.  My fave is the Gizeh.

@sunsetbeach   Yes, the footbed is exactly the same, except that IMO they are actually a little softer and more flexible out of the box than the Birks.  I think they actually have a little more arch support too.  The sizing is the same, and honestly, since I started buying the Calceo, I don't wear my Birks as much as I used to because I prefer the Calceo.

Never been a huge fan of Birkenstocks, but I did have one pair I liked to wear as an easy slip on/slip off kind of shoe.  Always wore them with socks.  Don't care if that's gausche.  My feet get cold, and I actually prefer the look better.  Always with jeans.

However, when the soles started literally disentegrating I went in search of another pair.  They had changed them to add a little ridge under the toes and the footbed was hard.  I guess it's meant to help the toes grab the shoe, but it hurts my feet, so no more.  Luckily, I was able to find some knock-offs that work just fine that don't have the hard footbed and toe ridges at, of all places, Shoe Carnival. Actually ended up with 2 pair by 2 different companies.  I believe one of them were Steve Madden's Madden Girl and the other were White Mountain.  Saved myself a bit of money too since I could get 2 pair for probably less than one pair of Birkenstocks.  Don't kow the style, it's just the slip-on with two straps, one across the toes and one across the instep.

Re: Joanna Gaines and Birkenstocks

I love them when I go on vacation. I especially love Florida and Salina. I have a Gizeh but I find it hurts my foot if I have to walk alot.
