I own one Dooney & Bourke bag: a bucket bag in one of their signature canvas materials. I like it, but it has gotten a little "used" looking.

I'm looking for a traditional satchel. All of the D & B satchels that I like seem to be the patent bags, which are really PVC, according to the descriptions on the Q.

First, do you know why a high-end line like D & B would use faux patent inside of the real thing? Durability? To make it more affordable?

Second, could you recommend a small satchel for me in leather? I'm looking for something in black (traditional), or something in a brighter cobalt or turquoise blue for summer. I tend to like the east/west bags more than the north/south profiles. I definitely don't need a crossbody strap either.
