Handles Cracking on G.I.L.I. Leather Roma 2 Tote after 2 Weeks.

The handles on my G.I.L.I. Leather Roma 2 Tote in Aubergine are splitting and cracking after about 2 weeks of carrying it. ARGH! There is some fuchsia-pink plastic looking stuff peeking out. Obviously the handles are not all leather. Is anyone else having this problem????
