That bag, and that color, is beautiful! I wouldn't hesitate to carry it. I have a bright pink Coach bag my husband bought for me a year ago. Funny, it's almost the color of the new Pantone orchid. That bag has received more compliments than any other bag I have ever carried in my life. People just seem to gravitate towards the brighter colors.

Thanks, Red. Do you carry your bright pink bag with things that don't necessarily "match" the bag?

Your clothes shouldn't necessarily "match" the bag, but they should coordinate. Think about color combinations that appeal to you, and I'm sure you can work the bag into the outfit.

One thing that drives me crazy is seeing women wearing lots of pattern and carrying patterned bags. Overload!!!

I carried a bright pink bag all last summer. I loved it. I like brights in the spring/summer more than fall/winter.

Re: General Handbag Question Regarding Brightly Colored Bags

I love colored bags and rarely change bags. It is a surprise to find that many colors can be almost "neutral". One year I carried a teal bag and it seemed to go with everything. Last summer I got yellow, and again it worked most days. This year I plan for lime green, and I think it will be great. Red is a staple color also. A pink bag did not work out well for me.

I have a darling D&B from about 15 years ago with strawberries all over it. Not a good purchase in that it always clashed....... but it is so darn cute.

Always! I carry a bag for months at a time so no way is it going to match everything. Go for it - you will enjoy the color! :-)

Re: General Handbag Question Regarding Brightly Colored Bags

I am an oddball who only owns one large black bag, one small one, and one black evening bag. I put it that way because my accessory wardrobe is not lacking for bags. I have quite a few and they are colors and prints{#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Because so much of my clothing is green shades, green is a predominant color among my purses. Other colors I own are bright blue, white, pink, red, brown, wine, and a lot of prints. I'm rather bold with the selection of what bag to carry with an outfit. I might rock a red bag wearing an contrasting color like teal. I will carry a green bag with any color outfit because in my mind green is mother nature's true neutral.

Unless I'm going to a place where I really need to look nice, like a job interview or a party where I need to keep my bag on me at all times or will have my picture taken where I can't put my bag down, I don't even care if it coordinates. Most of the time my bag isn't on me, it's in a drawer at work, in the car next to me, or hanging off the back of a chair.

I agree about patterned bags, which is why almost all of mine are solids, but coordinating is too much. I don't want to change my bags with my outfits - that's too many bags for me. I change based on function - do I need a tote bag, a very small bag, or will my everyday bag work?

Re: General Handbag Question Regarding Brightly Colored Bags

My purses have to match in some kind of way. Wouldn't wear just any bag with any outfit. I agree with the poster above about print bags with print outfits. I can't do it. I see a lot of those brown/tan/beige LV bags or LV type bags worn with maybe a blue/purple/black print dress or top, I would wear the OP's blue bag with mainly black or white or a print with blue, and yellow. I love a bright color against black.

Re: General Handbag Question Regarding Brightly Colored Bags

I would carry that blue bag with just about everything. I think it would be beautiful with neutrals as well as pastels and brights. Pink, light blue, yellow, green, prints. I don't think there's much that it wouldn't look good with.

Thanks again, Red. You know you're pushing me over the edge, right?{#emotions_dlg.laugh}
