I don't think you can really call some one a designer who just makes cheap knockoffs of much more expensive items that she owns. Same with Joan Rivers . They did not , in fact, design anything - they both just copied other designers that they had purchased. They both are /were quite open about this too - they didn't keep it a secret at all.

Almost all designers copy from someone or something else. Or they rip themselves off.

Lisa was always very honest about her items being based on something she owned with her own touches. That's about as good as it gets.

I'm not sure at all what a real designer is - more than likely someone the speaker or writer likes and not a whole lot more.

I agree and for the record, a knock off, cheap or otherwise and the GILI bags weren't cheap..., is an item sold as what it is knocking off. In this instance, the items were quite clearly sold under their own steam...

They were selling a GILI bag yesterday (or the day before) and absolutely no mention of LR's name.

Not buying it! I think some other host will do the GILI presentations.

If you look at the graphics when they show a GILI item, you will notice a very small "TM" to the right of the name........that tells me that QVC owns that brand and has trademarked it! I may be wrong, so if someone knows different please respond.

Yes, you are right-Q owns the "brand". What is questionable is whether Q can successfully continue to sell GILI branded items without Lisa. Given the huge missteps since Lisa's departure with Sandra & Jayne, it doesn't seem favorable for them. I think their best opportunity to continue the line & retain this customer base is to hire a new host. No one currently at Q can pull it off, even marginally.

You might be right......everyone associates that name with LR. They might have to change the name of the line.

I heard Lisa say in response to an on-air caller that QVC owns the GILI brand, and that she's had fun designing it and hopes QVC continues it. Lisa doesn't have rights to the line.

All of them are. Some are mentioning Lisa, as Sandra did last week, and some aren't, as Jayne didn't last night... Of course, I think Jayne Brown essentially sleep walked through her entire show... Although the colors aren't similar and there aren't many she managed to mess up the colors all three times that she 'ran through them'. Then she kept referring to the trim color as 'the hardware' even though they all have the same color hardware... Sort of ridiculous. She's not a new host but appears to need to go back to hosting school...

I like the gili bags and own several. In fact , I have chosen to carry these instead of other well known brands. And, the bags always get compliments. I must say, that since Lisa's departure, I have not watched one full show with any other host, regardless of the products. I always enjoyed Lisa and wish her the best with whatever direction she takes.
