Dooney with "icky" smell....ideas please

I bought a Dooney.at Macy's last year.....satchel plaid .....it had a slight smell but I thought it would go away....When I brought it out yesterday the smell is worse....sort of fishy.....has anyone had this problem....What do I do? I put it on the deck for 24 hrs....it still smells. ooooooooh
