Re: Dooney design suggestion/request

I think OP is on to something! I'm the exact opposite, I never wear a bag on my shoulder. Never..ever. I remove the shoulder strap. I think ladies ladies who prefer shoulder straps should have the same option that I have. They should be able to remove the top handles. I don't think OP is trying limit anyone's options. She's just seeking to expand options.

I understand the point and agree it spells more options, but really, most of those I know who are shoulder bag ladies just buy shoulder bags... The strap and handle combination seems to work for those who usually carry a bag but will occasionally want to put it on their shoulder. Shoulder straps are removable because they're long and can get in the way. Most hand held handles aren't as obtrusive... We're all free to tell the manufacturers what we'd like to see and then it's up to them to decide if it makes sense or not... Obviously, I'm not a manufacturer but were I, sorry, but to me, this suggestion just doesn't make a lot of practical sense... though, as noted, there are some top handle bags with shoulder straps where either are removable.

Re: Dooney design suggestion/request

Dooney already makes the same bag silhouette with different handle options. For example the Flo satchel and the Smith, it's the same bag but the satchel has arm handles and the long shoulder strap that can also be worn crossbody. The Smith bag has two shoulder straps only.

Another example is the Clayton and the Kingston. The body of the bag is basically the same but they have two different strap designs. Dooney makes plenty of shoulder bags without top handles.

Re: Dooney design suggestion/request

My gripe is the obvious logo on the bags, it's bad enough the bags are way over priced, I shouldn't have to be an advertisement for the brand too. I never see ads in magazines for the bags, we stupid customers are doing the advertising .

Re: Dooney design suggestion/request

The smaller logos and logo hardware don't bother me but as a rule, I'm not a big fan of logo prints. I do like the 1975 logo print but not most others. As far as the bags being over-priced, what isn't...? Besides, most retailers have occasional sales that include this brand and were I to be buying that's probably when I'd do it.

Re: Dooney design suggestion/request

I have to say I am a little surprised at some replies' animosity to a simple suggestion. And appreciate those who think differently without rancor. Not every single bag is available with different handle configuration at least where I shop. One person favorite is anothers' least favorite design. I just don't see how long and short handles/straps were removeable would limit anyone's options. I have lots of hobos. I like variety in my bags and so often the new and different one has the double handles. So there you go.

Re: Dooney design suggestion/request

I agree with the OP. I really dislike the half this-half that look that is not fully anything attractive. Those thin straps never lie properly on the shoulder and they get in the way. I ordered this style once and disliked it so much I never ordered another. Even if I like the body of the bag, I won't order it if it's that style.

The LV logo bags are quite popular, not that I'd carry one.

Exactly, ginirn. I don't understand why the satchel gals feel so threatened by making a bag's short straps removable just as the long straps usually are. Seem like a bit of a double standard to me.

Re: Dooney design suggestion/request

As a satchel fan I have never wanted to remove the short straps. I carry both ways, but predominantly on my arm. I hope you can find a style that properly suits your taste. Are you opposed to a hobo bag?
