Dooney V Coach - Quality and perception

I don't want this to be a mud slinging contest but I was emailing with a friend about a beautiful Dooney. The Florentine Satchel. Trying to figure out which color I would like to order it in etc.

She said, Isn't Dooney a step down from Coach. which she is not the biggest fan of couch so I took it as a dig.

What do you think the perception of Dooney and Coach are comparably. I have 3 Dooneys, a few Prada, Fendi and A chloe so I love my handbags. Not a fan of Coach for one reason they have watered down their product by having all these outlet stores.
I hope not to offend anyone by that comment. i am sure that I have.
