It's a courtesy program designed for those who have damaged bags NOT a promotional program or another way to order when you're just 'sick' of the bag you already own.
I have to respectfully disagree. I have sent several bags in that were in mint condition... I just was not using them for one reason or another.
Well, OK...if the rule is for the bag to be damaged, anyone can easily make some damage to their bag and then send it in for the credit....Problem solved! But what's the point?? If D&B accepts any bag, then apparently it's allowed!I see you people don't get the point. It's wasteful and shameful to send a perfectly good bag in to be destroyed but if it doesn't bother you in the least then go ahead.
I could never do that to save a few bucks besides all the hassle as was described above. First you have to wait for their letter and reorder from a limited selection (which I consider their site limited) in a limited amount of time.
Just save the money for the bag you want and then once you get it you will have two.
I do save up my money to purchase anything I might want because I refuse to pay interest on my credit cards. if I cannot pay for something in full when the bill comes in I don't purchase it. You are absolutely correct ... if I saved the money to buy a bag and did not take advantage of the trade-in-program I would definitely have two bags .... one which I do not use. That would also be wasteful.
I have a bag that I'm contemplating sending in b/c I never used it. I assume that the company can re-use and/or refurbish (in a damaged case) the fine leathers. They are the experts.

If you call the company, they will explain it to you. The way I understand it, they will accept bags back and issue a credit for 1/2.

lovetoteach ..... unfortunately Dooney does destroy the bags that are sent in under the trade-in-program regardless of its condition.

I recently used the trade-in program, and did not know at the time that Dooney would destroy the bag I sent to them. I don't anticipate being in the unfortunate situation of having too many bags ever again, as I pared down my collection to five total - two GILIs, and three Dooneys. I won't ever use the program again, though. I don't like the idea of destroying perfectly good bags.
