Dillen II Mini Barrel Strap question

Ok I just ordered the Mini Barrel in Seafoam on the Dooney site special w/ 10% off. Hooray! Now why does the strap only have a clip at one end? I was thinking I could take it off and put on another longer strap. Guess not. Unless I add it on to the clip end. But that would look funny. I guess if you didn't want to use the strap you would unclip it and tuck it inside? Oh, I could do that and probably still put a longer strap on it, do you think that would work?
