Coated Cotton bag with polka dots

Let me start by saying, I love D & b handbags. However, I rec'd my new bag today and I have to say I am very disappointed... the inside of the straps are not finished leather like the outside. shame on you Dooney, I never thought for what you charge and the quality of your bags I would see the day when you cut corners like this ! Very disappointed indeed. Keeping the bag because I like it but very disappointed over the unfinished handles/straps.

I wouldn't keep it at all.

I have found that if I'm disappointed in something, even the smallest detail, I'm not happy with it and it will just sit there.

Already you are irritated or you wouldn't have posted so take this as a sign that you are not going to use it a lot, you'll think about it forever, wonder in a month or so why you didn't return it....but heck, that's me.

Now, if it was less than half off, I wouldn't even worry about it.

Re: Coated Cotton bag with polka dots

I went on the D/B website and looked at the bag there, zoomed in on the handles and low and behold they are unfinished on the underside! this is the first bag I have bought with the vachetta (sp?) leather, are all the bags with this type of leather unfinished on the inside of the handles I wonder? If so it will be the last one I buy with this type of leather. It just doesn't look finished. I can't for the life of me understand why Dooney would do this..... it certainly could not cost that much more or take that much more time to have the handles finished on both sides... Smiley Sad

Re: Coated Cotton bag with polka dots

i am not sure i am understanding the problem? i just received two of these totes to give as graduation gifts. it is still leather, but doesnt look quite the same as side that faces outward. in a way, i like the slightly rougher feel better on the inside because if you are carrying this over your shoulder it tends to stay on better.

sorry you were disappointed with yours!

Re: Coated Cotton bag with polka dots

I have the Chevron tote with Vachetta trim that was a recent tsv. The undersides of the handles are not finished either, but a rough leather. I don't mind as it does stay on shoulders better.

The trim now is a honey color, aged nicely from the very light shade when new. It has been sitting out in my bright bedroom since I got it several months ago, and looks really nice. I am just going to begin using it now as the weather has finally warmed up a bit. It didn't really go with my winter parka. :-)

If handles are rounded and stitched or whip stitched then of course they are finished all the way around, but these straps are a single layer of leather, with a right side, and a rougher "wrong side."
