I generally like Clark shoes but sometimes they have the toe box pointing up. Is there any good design reason to do this? I really don't like the look. Same with burnished toes. Don't understand it. Would love to read about the rationale for the toe box, which I find incomprehensible. Thanks!

This is my best guess, I think these shoes are mostly clogs, and when you are walking in them having a toe that curves up helps actually in walking in them. I have some Dansk clog shoes that have the same design. This is also more of a European design.

Yes, @NYCLatinaMe
When I see a shoe's toe is shaped to assist the foot's natural rocking motion, I think the footwear has a stiffer design that won't flex much.

thanks for your responses @Bhvbum and @x Hedge. I don't find them to be any more comfortable. I just feel self conscious because I don't like the look and stop wearing them. So I returned them and stopped buying them. I don't need nor noticed a rocking motion, and they have never mentioned this on air. I think if it conveyed a benefit they would say it. The upwards pointing toe is totally unmentioned. A reviewer saved me from purchasing a pair of such shoes today.
This shoe, by the way, is for sale in Amazon for a lot less. I found this out looking for the picture, which reminds me I need to google items before purchasing from QVC. I forget to do that. Today I randomly found out Amazon has a nice Carolyn Pollack selection. Who knew! I though she was just QVC.

@x Hedge I just reread your post before closing the page and I got it. I needed a second read! You think the shoes are stiffer. That could be!

I have several pairs of each: Clarks Cheyn Madi, Ashland Joy and Leisa Carly - and I love the look where the toe is raised up. When I wear them, I'm not even aware of it. Our toes do go up a little when we walk. These 3 styles are so comfortable for me - I wear 6-1/2 wide. I also love the beautiful leather.

I hate the look - they look like Elf shoes.

I have a similar opinion .... they remind me of the "bubble toe" shoe that circus clowns wear.
