Canvas shoes have no holding power - material squashes out making feet look larger - stretches out so offers no long term holding feature.  Buy narrow width and you end up with medium to wide.  That style was popular in the 40's = world war II

@lolakimono  I ended up returning the pair of pink sandals I recently bought because they were too loose in the heel. Thanks for posting these. I'll check them out as an option.

A lot of the current sandals remind me of the 1940's styles I have seen in photos.

i got the navy ones, in suede a couple of weeks ago. very comfortable. i think they were 1/2 price-8 wides and it was a free shipping day.
