SL, I read your update, but you indicated you'd be keeping it... For what it's worth, Florentine leather varies from very smooth to somewhat textured. It's a personal choice. I prefer the smooth but as long as the bag is consistent... The underside of the strap doesn't sound like an anomaly, as some of them are a different color. It's a personal choice. If you're sufficiently happy with it to keep it, then just enjoy, but if you're going to end up unhappy with the bag, then it might not be worth it at any price...
