Guess I thought that by shortening the straps, it could have been carried as a shoulder bag or in the crook of your arm......I know it's not an alternative to all, but (like I said) just a thought and the price isn't bad either.

However, I still think it's not exactly the same thing... it is *just* a leather backpack, while the GILI is truly convertible and it looks stunning, and it has an outside pocket.... but different people like different styles, so I am sure someone will like the Coach backpack

I haven't seen the GILI bag (because I wouldn't be interested in purchasing it anyway)- I do like this Coach bag-Very pretty! I don't think that I would carry a backpack though- Have my 25% off coupon-Will check it out, thanks! LOVE the caramel/tan color-Very classy!
