I don't use much salt in my cooking. I never did. My family has a strong history of heart problems so salt was very limited in our household. I use herbs and different black peppers to flavor our food. Of course, I prefer the fresh herbs but that dependent upon if I have an herb garden growing this year or not. I like to experiment with the herbs and now they have so many blends in the markets that it makes it easy to get started. The other tip that I recently learned was to checked the organic spices. Some of them are cheaper than the name brands. I have found the Marlene Koch cookbooks to be a big help for all types of diet restrictions. Hope this helps.
