need a recipe please

Does anybody have a recipe for a SOFT molasses cookie? .One that is more cake like? I have found recipes that say soft.but they are not.It would be much appreciated

Old Fashioned Molasses Cookies

My favorite recipe for molasses cookies comes from my SIL:

 

4 cups flour

2 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

2 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp ground cloves

1 tsp ground ginger

1 1/2 cups softened butter

1 1/2 cups sugar

2 eggs

1/2 cup molasses

 

Whisk flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger in bowl.

 

In separate big bowl beat butter and sugar with electric mixer until light and creamy.  Mix in molasses and eggs.  Mix in flour mixture.  Refrigerate dough for 1/2 hour.

 

Roll dough into 1" balls then roll in dish of sugar to coat.  Space balls 1" apart on parchment-lined baking sheet.  Bake in 375 degree oven for 8-10 minutes.  Place cookies on cooling rack until completely cooled.  

 

I make a double batch and freeze them to give to good boys and girls.

HI Hellie. This was my moms recipe. It was always well liked,

 

MOLASSES COOKIES

1 C BROWN SUGAR

3/4 CUP CRISCO

1/2 CUP MOLASSES

1 EGG

2 1/4 CUPS FLOUR

2 TSP. BAKING SODA

1 TSP CINNAMON

1/2 TSP GROUND CLOVES

1/2 TSP. GROUND GINGER

1/4 TSP. SALT

1/2 CUP WATER

1/4 CUP SUGAR

COMBINE BROWN SUGAR AND CRISCO. BEAT WITH A MIXER TIL FLUFFY. ADD MOLASSAS AND EGG. BEAT WELL. COMBINE FLOUR WITH NEXT 5 INGREDIENTS (THRU SALT)

STIR WITH A WISK. ADD FLOUR MIXTURE TO BROWN SUGAR MIXTURE. BEAT AT LOW SPEED ON MIXER TIL BLENDED. COVER DOUGH AND FREEZE FOR 1 HOUR. PLACE WATER IN A SMALL BOWL. PLACE SUGAR IN ANOTHER SMALL BOWL. SHAPE DOUGH INTO 1 INCH BALLS. DIP ONE SIDE OF BALL INTO WATER.THEN DIP WET SIDE OF BALL INTO SUGAR. PLACE 1 INCH APART ONTO COOKIE SHEET COATED WITH NON STICK COOKING SPRAY. BAKE AT 375* FOR 8 MINUTES.
