from boiling over is to place a wooden spoon over the pot.  it has to be a wooden spoon.  metal will not work.  and this does work.  i don't kow why but it does.  give it a try

I will have to try that! I think I might heard that on a cooking show at some point, but forgot about it.

Never tried putting the spoon over the pot.  I always put it in the water.  Works.

Once the water comes to a boil, I add the pasta and lower the heat. It never boils over.

Re: neat trick to keep pasta

Once I put the pasta in boiling water, I turn the heat down to a lower boil so it doesn't boil over.

I use the wooden spoon & it works. Saves alot of time cleaning the stove with over spills.

I have one of those Kochblume flat thingys that lets the steam and bubbles out of the middle.  Works well. I'm trying the wooden spoon trick at the cottage.

@shortbreadlover

Why can't I ever remember this!  Thanks for the reminder!

I have a boil over every time!  Can't get used to this gas stove top!
