I agree with the respondant who suggested using lemon or vinegar. It acts similarly to salt on the palate. There are also some salt substitutes on the market, Nu Salt and No Salt. They are helpful. Another thing I have done to reduce sodium is boil high salt items, (like bacon or sausage) in water and dump the water and then cook as normally. The food tastes much less salty but it's hard to count how much you've had. Reducing sodium intake for me is very difficult. I just ordered some Kelp flakes as I heard they have a salty taste but are lower in sodium than salt. Good luck!
