Hi. My doctor wants me to go on s low-salt diet. Can anyone recommend a low-salt cookbook? and/or do you have any low-salt recipes you can share?

She wants me to limit my salt intake to 2 grams (2000 miligrams) a day.

Use any recipe leave out most of the salt. Add a little acid--good vinegar, lime or lemon juice--for that extra zip.

Yeasted baked goods probably would need the salt or most of it, but other things should be fine.

Mrs Dash has a lot of flavoring options to keep meats, vegetables interesting and should be at your local store.

I found that it takes SEVERAL MONTHS to get used to unsalted food.   After the initial craving leaves your system, you will be surprised at HOW GOOD everything tastes!!!

I developed high blood pressure during all of my pregnancies way back 40+ years ago. I began eating low sodium back then and never stopped. I never followed a specific cookbook, I just didn't add salt. I grow my own herbs in the summer and dry them. My fresh herbs make a HUGE difference in my meals. Remember craving salt is learned.

The How not to Diet Cookbook by Michael Greger, M.D.  He is also the founder of nutritionfacts.org  Both are excellent resources for anyone interested in eating healthy.

I will also add. I helped my father adapt to a low sodium diet on his doctors order's.  The number one thing to remember-- read the labels.

It can say "low sodium" on the package, but compare the sodium to other similar products.  I was surprised how many low sodium products were NOT the lowest sodium choice.

The other big shocker is baked goods-- very high in sodium.  Why? Baking soda.  It is all sodium.

My favorite spice blend is McCormick's No-Salt Vegetable. I use it on everything.
