fruit cobbler question(for bakers)

I plan to make a fruit cobbler tonight-- the recipe calls for "fresh peaches-pitted and sliced". I read the reviews which said I can also use nectarines and plums which I plan to do as the peaches in my area are not ripe. My question: since the recipe does not say otherwise-- I keep the skin ON-------correct?
