I got a 3 lb rump roast.  Knowing they need to have a long cooking time to tenderize, I used my crock pot for 5 1/2 hrs.  I added valdaila onions, cut in 1/4 pieces so they wouldn't disappear.  I put in Worcestershire sauce, and white wine (my cousin always brings in place of my fav from the grocery store.  He'll NEVER elevate me!, lol!!!) a little soy, steak sauce and cooked.

ULTRA BLAND.  Well, never did a rump roast that way, and never will.

Tonight I got the roast out.  Used some of the broth and added 1 can mushroom soup, 1/2 pkt Lipton's Onion soup, a little more Worcestershire, steak sauce, a tsp. of thyme, and another shake of steak sauce.  For thickening, I used 3 TBSP corn starch.

Lightly simmered 1 1/2 hours.  Perfection!

Rump roast in the summer? Sounds too hot to have.

@ECBG   The last couple times I cooked (crockpot) a roast they were bland.

I used to love a roast, with potatoes, carrots....not so much lately, but I know that I will buy another one, one of these days and try again!

I can't believe some posters. Seriously? Criticizing what someone chooses to make for dinner.

I have no experience with rump roast, but glad you were able to salvage it.

We usually use an English roast instead of rump roast but they are both good.  The pack of Liptons' beefy onion soup makes all the difference!  We use it for meatloaf and baked steak also.

Roast beef - we add potatoes, carrots, turnips, sweet potatoes and sometimes an apple - gives it a good flavor.

@Pezzie Honey, was is what it was.  Not enough spices to mellow it out.  That's why I redid it.  Wonderful!Smiley Happy
