Not sure where to post this but lately all the tuna I have bought (in a can) is in water. Problem there seems to be more water than tuna.  Tuna used to have form and be flaky, but lately not so.  Does anyone have a name of a tuna product that is firm and while packed in water has substance?

I buy albacore tuna packed in water from Costco...Kirkland brand. Have never found excessive water in any I have used.

I like albacore tuna. Be sure the label says solid albacore tuna. It's packed in very little water and is very chunky. My favorite brands are Bumblebee and Member's Mark sold at Sam's Club.

I only buy Bumble Bee Solid White Albacore in water.  No issues with excessive water with that brand.  I buy either the gold color can or the white with a silver stripe.  Wild-caught, non-GMO.

I think the key is "solid albacore"; the tuna that's flaked or in pieces, I've always found a bit too messy (even the stuff packed in water).

I get multi-packs either at Sam's Club or BJs.  And, by law, the net weight of the tuna has to be shown on the can.

Years ago I bought 3 brands and did a side by side taste test.

Then put the winner up against 3 more brands, and so on.

(Made a lot of Tuna Casserole that week.)

In the end I found I have to have solid white albacore, must be packed in water, and Bumblebee is always my first choice.

Never tried Member's Mark @Diva on The Q, but if it's good as Bumblebees I'll give it a shot.

I recommend Wild Planet canned tuna.   No water, oil, or filler added; it's like a tuna filet in a can.  It's sustainably line- and pole-caught; smaller fish so probably less mercury.  It's more expensive though -- $3.50 to $4.00 for a 5 oz can.  If not for the price I'd get it more often.

I agree. It's hands down the BEST canned tuna. I buy it at Costco. It's around $15 for 6 cans - $2.50 a can.
