TO ALL THAT PROTECT AND SERVE.......

I just wanted to let any and all of you that have ever served this country, and to all of you that have raised someone that has served, or is serving in the Armed Services now, a gratitude of THANKS for putting yourself in harms way, just to give me the privilege to have all of the freedoms that I have........I thank you for protecting those freedoms, so that I may live in a country that is a safer place to live, than in a great deal more countries today.....You give up so much to protect this country, and I appreciate every day, what you do, more than mere words can say here....May you all look in the mirror, and know that you made a difference in the lives of so many people......I also salute all of the dogs that have also served this country to protect those soldiers, and have given them that extra protection and guidance, so they are safer........in order to protect this great country.......A special Veterans Day thanks........YOU ALL ARE HEROES........{#emotions_dlg.wub}

Re: TO ALL THAT PROTECT AND SERVE.......

What a sincere and beautiful post! I with DD and DS' generation could read it and really think about it. They grew up always knowing how important our veterans are and were to our way of life, but it's amazing how many of their friends just take things for granted and don't think about the sacrifices others made.

Re: TO ALL THAT PROTECT AND SERVE.......

I took a group of 40 or so high school kids to DC in April, and while at Arlington, there was a group of WWII vets there, and most were in wheelchairs and such, and I broke down and just bawled when some tried to stand at the laying of the wreath by some of our students, and just could not.....and then, our guide made if so that the students met each and every one of them, and touched them, and thanked them..........NOW....here come those tears again.......No word is thanks enough........{#emotions_dlg.wub} And, one of them told me......You are so pretty, darling do not shed tears for us..........{#emotions_dlg.wub}{#emotions_dlg.wub}

Forestwolf, thank you for your post, for all veterans and their families. I could not agree with you more.

I was at Arlington National Cemetery less than a month ago, and the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers is very powerful and moving. When I was there, they had a group of 4 middle school children there to lay a wreath, there were many young people in the crowd, everyone was very respectful, I was so proud of all of them although I did not know them. At the end when the soldier played "Taps", I cried.

Dear ForrestWolf,

I do not know you; nevertheless, I deeply admire you. In spite of your own personal challenges, here you are to shine a light onto others.

May blessings shower upon you and yours, Dear Lady.

Sincerely, Mrs. G.

Forrestwolf - thanks for the great post! My 88-year old dad is a WWII vet and his experiences were life-shaping. I truly believe he's from the greatest generation! Happy Veterans Day to everyone.
