I live in the Chicago area and in today's paper there was an article about a new cookbook that sounds good. It would be good to have in David's Cookbook Corner....unless I missed it. The book is called SOUP NIGHT..Recipes for Creating Community Around a Pot of Soup by Maggie Stuckey. Has anyone heard of it?

Hi walker, I've not heard of it. I love soup, especially in the winter. Kathy

I happen to be making a big pot of soup right now. I have neighbors that have a soup open house every Christmas Eve 6 PM to 10 PM. They have three different kinds of soups and rolls. The neighborhood is invited to drop in any time. It is a lot of fun.

Soup. Soup is whatever I'm hungry for and get at the store or whatever I have in the fridge, freezer and pantry! LOL!!! Can be anything from French onion to mushroom to beef, chicken noodle or whatever! I sort of count chicken and dumplings in the soup category too!

My husband says I can make soup out of anything and I have never made it the same way twice. ALL true I guess! I have never made any that we didn't like or really couldn't eat. Some have been spectacular, but almost all have been really good! Isn't that the beauty of soup? It's hard to go wrong!

My new trade secret is a can of creamed corn in Mexican flavored soups. I always have home made broth in the freezer and go from there, but the creamed corn gives it a little body and the sweetness is wonderful with the tomatoes in the soup and then lots of hot sauce.

Looks like an interesting book walker. I saw it at Amazon. Looks to have a lot of stories in it. So, good recipes and good reading! I have been enjoying making (and eating) soup more and more the past few years. We'll have to get our group together for a "soup night" soon!! Thanks for the info!

Soup night open house sounds like a really good idea. I also make soup out of anything and nothing goes to waste. Just waist.

Walker, what a great idea and fun thread! I looked up the book on Amazon and now I'm going to see if I can find the newspaper article you mention. This has my mind a buzzin', thinking how much fun we could have doing something like this. Thank you!

I haven't had any luck finding the article. Was it the Chicago Tribune or Sun?
