Serendipity Sauce for Stir Fries

I just ran across this recipe and thought it would be a nice addition to my stir fry dishes. It is not tried and true by me, but when I copy recipes for my own files and think someone here might enjoy them, too, I like to post them before I forget them.

Serendipity Sauce for Stir Fries

1/2 c cornstarch
1/4 c firmly packed brown sugar
1 1/2 T minced fresh ginger
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 t ground red pepper
2/3 c soy sauce
1/3 c cider vinegar
13 3/4- or 14 1/2-oz can chicken or beef broth
2/3 cup dry sherry

In 1 quart jar combine cornstarch, brown sugar, ginger, garlic and ground red pepper. Add soy sauce and vinegar; shake until blended. Add broth and sherry; shake well.

Store covered in refrigerator up to 2 weeks; shake before using. Sauce may be frozen in tightly covered containers in 1 cup portions; thaw and shake before using. Makes 4 cups
