Super Bowl is in a week. Are you watching? Are you cooking up something special for the big game?
My nephew and his wife are hosting a large super bowl party at their newly remodeled house. This is the first family/friends gathering since completing their remodel...it promises to be a loud and fun gathering. They've invited their neighbors, because it will get loud.
I asked what I could bring ... appetizer, entree or dessert ... and the answer was..."some of each, especially Uncle Jack's smoked brisket and your bbq beans".
Okay then, here's what I plan to bring and I will help her do setup too.
Appetizers
Antipasto Skewers - and I will be using some cute picks I found.
Bacon, Cheddar, Ranch Dip
Cheeseboard - using cute picks
Dessert
Raspberry Shooters and Pistachio Shooters. I actually got the idea for the pistachio shooters from the image for buying the shooter glasses. I thought ... why not make this too.
Chocolate covered strawberries - using the flag picks above.
Entree
Smoked brisket - she wants this for sliders and she's providing the rolls. My husband loves any excuse to have this and I'm sure he will make enough for us too.
BBQ beans - my throw together recipe, filled with bacon, bacon, bacon, brown sugar, onions and oh yeah, beans.

I'm not aware of a football game ever being watched on a TV in this house.
I occasionally watch figure skating, but otherwise no one here watches any sport on TV.

I'm not much into football either and would not allow my two 6'4" sons to play football (they thank me now). But they do like to watch football, baseball and basketball. For some folks the Super Bowl is about football, for others it's a reason to eat lots of food and watch the ads.
I'm going to this party because it's also a family event and I want to support my nephew and his wife.

I'll be watching so I think maybe I'll kick things up a notch and order pizza 🍕

Pizza is always good, for any reason on any day of the week!
If I wasn't going to a family event, I would probably have planned to have leftovers and gingerale and read a book.

Just a pot of chicken noodle stew and tossed salad for the two of us.

Nope--not watching --not a sports fan---but would eat all the yummy food in a heart beat!!!

Hard to beat a good chicken noodle soup. I like the kind with the thick homestyle egg noodles and my husband likes those thin egg noodles, so we trade off on noodles.

Have you had the bacon cheddar dip from Haggens? Their dip is so good. This is pretty close to their recipe.

We are not really a football family but I might make an exception for this one! I coukd eat that dip with a spoon!
