Re: STRAWBERRY POUND CAKE ....EASY AND GOOD !!

Mine is in the oven now. Ironically, I thought it was the strawberry gelatin that I was missing, so I bought some. I was certain I had a box of strawberry cake mix. I didn't. So, I made the following substitutions:

I used yellow cake mix instead of strawberry.

I used banana pudding instead of vanilla.

I'll let you know how it turns out.

Re: STRAWBERRY POUND CAKE ....EASY AND GOOD !!

Oh, my! I just took a nibble of DH's slice of this cake. (His 2nd slice) It's very, very good. The combination of the banana pudding and strawberry Jello turned out to be a good one.

This cake is a keeper. Thank you for posting it, sarahpanda.

Never mind I found the recipe on the Duncan Hines web site. I will be making it tomorrow. Thanks for posting it.

Good morning luvs,

Long time no see. Hope all has been good with you and yours

Did you find a recipe on Duncan Hines or how much and what to add to the smaller cake mix???? I tried locating both on Duncan Hines and only found what to add to a rum cake. TIA for any info you can give me on this. I have read many different ways to make a cake mix larger but haven't tried any of them yet.

Have a good weekend luvs.

Hi JPC...... so good to see you too. All has been good here and I hope that all is good with you and yours too. Hope the weather is good where you are and that you are still making those beautiful quilts. I goggled Strawberry Pound Cake and it came up as a Duncan Hines recipe. I think that it may be the same as the one Gloria posted on here but not sure because I could not get the recipe when I clicked on her link. Might just be because I am not a member of Pinterest. I did find all of the ingredients yesterday and hope that you can too. Here is the recipe using the smaller box of cake mix. Hope this helps you and those that do not have the larger cake mixes. I too have not tried playing around with the smaller mixes so that I can bake a lot of the great recipes that have been posted in RS.

Have a great weekend JPC and nice chatting with you. LUVS

Re: STRAWBERRY POUND CAKE ....EASY AND GOOD !!

Hi luvs,

Thanks for posting the recipe you found. I had gone into the DH site and put strawberry pound cake in their search and it didn't come up. Didn't try the google. Thanks for sharing with us.

Yep, still plugging away at making quilts. Some weeks I don't even get down to my quilting room. Need to make it a point to try to do a little each day but am sure that won't happen. Is it too late for a New Years resolution{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Thanks again luvs

FYI: never tried this before, HTH

Three Ounce Cake Mix Upsizer

Adapted from the Better Homes & Gardens New Cook Book white and yellow cake recipes:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda

Whisk all dry ingredients together and store in a clean mason jar. When you wish to increase a 15.25 ounce cake mix to 18.25 ounces, add three ounces of this mix (6 tablespoons) to your existing cake mix.

Thanks for the info gkelly, I have saved this and keep it handy. Don't know why they felt they had to mess with the size of their cake mixes.
