I am baking impaired so through the years I have a few desserts I depend on and this one of them.

CRUST:
1-1/4 cups flour
3 T powdered sugar
1/2 cup butter, cut into 1 inch pieces

FILLING:
2 8 oz pkg cream cheese
1 egg
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 t vanilla

TOPPING:
2-3 firm apples - peeled, cored and thinly sliced
1/2 cup sugar
1 t cinnamon
1/2 t nutmeg
1 T flour
1 T butter

GLAZE:
1/2 cup apricot jam
1 T water

Stir flour and powdered sugar in a mixing bowl. Pinch and squeeze butter into mixture until pieces are pea size. Transfer to an 11 inch tart pan. Spread evenly around the pan on the bottom and sides. Cover with plastic wrap and freeze while you prepare filling.

Beat cream cheese and egg until they are light and smooth. Beat in brown sugar and vanilla. Set aside.

Heat oven to 375. Toss apple slices with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and flour. Spread cream cheese mixture over chilled tart shell. Then, beginning on the outside edge arrange apple slices on top of the filling in overlapping circles. Pour any remaining juices from bowl over the apple and then dot with butter.

Bake the tart for 1 hour or until juices bubble and apples turn tender. If the crust and apples begin to brown cover with foil. Remove and cool.

Stir apricot jam and water in a small saucepan over medium high heat. Left boil for 1 -2 minutes. Strain to remove any lumps. Use pastry brush to carefully paint the tart with shiny glaze.

Enjoy!
