(Keep warm in chafing dish or buffet server and serve with crackers. Makes 3 cups)
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1 8-oz. can (1 cup) tomato sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1 teaspoon sugar
3/4 teaspoon dried oregano leaves, crushed
1 8-oz. package of cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Cook ground beef, onion and garlic in skillet until meat is lightly browned and onion is tender.
Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, sugar and oregano.
Cover and simmer gently 10 minutes.
Spoon off excess fat.
Remove from heat. Add cream cheese and Parmesan.
Heat and stir until cream cheese is melted and well blended.
Keep warm and serve with crackers.
