We have all eaten the Chex Party Mix - This is a little different variation I had at my neighbors.
2 cups Chex (wheat and corn)
3/4 cup pretzel sticks
1 cup almonds
1 cup roasted unsalted peanuts
1/3 cup toffee bits
6 T unsalted butter
5 sprigs of fresh thyme
1 T packed dark brown sugar
1 T mustard powder
2 t Kosher salt
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. In a large bowl combine cereal, pretzels, almonds, peanuts and toffee bits.
Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium high heat until golden. Remove from heat and stir in thyme sprigs. Stir in brown sugar, mustard powder and salt. Combine well. Add to bowl with cereal mixture and toss until evenly coated. Spread in an even layer on baking sheet.
Bake 8 minutes. Stir and bake 8 minutes more. Cool and discard the thyme sprigs. Mix can be stored in an airtight container at room temp up to a week.
Put parchment paper on baking sheet unless you love to wash dishes! I like that this does not make a huge amount.

@DiAnne. Interesting. Kind of an unusual combo of ingredients. Wish I could taste it.

I make this with fewer ingredients. Lining the baking sheet with parchment is a good tip:
2 1/2 cups Chex cereal ( I like a combination of corn and rice)
1 cup Corn Pops cereal
1 cup popped popcorn
1 cup CornNuts
3 tbsp melted butter
1 tbsp maple syrup
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
Stir cereals, popcorn, and CornNuts in big bowl. Whisk butter and syrup in dish and drizzle over mixture in big bowl. Toss with salt and pepper.
Spread on baking sheet and bake in 250 degree oven for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.

This kind of reminds me of something called White Trash. Weird name I know. It's usually made around the holidays or at least that's when I've had it at parties, but can be made any time.
2 cups mini pretzels.
2 cups bugles, fritos or other corn chip.
1 cup cereal-Cheerios, Chex
2 cups broken Oreos.
1 cup dry roasted peanuts
1 cup M&Ms.
1 package white chocolate almond bark or Candy melts

Here on the Texas/Louisiana borderline we call it Puppy Chow. All these variations sound delish

When the coating includes chocolate, that's what it's known as in Wisconsin also.

I always use Crispex instead of buying Chex so I can buy 1 box.
Crispex has rice on one side & corn on the other.
I have to buy it before the Holiday's because it's always sold out.

@Nightowlz Good idea. I've noticed quite a few things are sold out pretty quickly around the holidays (at least where I live) so I've been trying to be better prepared.
